Rental Space

Main Market Hall

The Main Market Hall of the Community Market is divisible into 2 spaces, each with its own set of washrooms. One larger space contains more permanent fixtures (such as the Market Café and vendor booths) while the smaller space is more flexible. Can be rented with or without access to the kitchen.

Additional Infomation

  •  The SJFM is a non-profit organization that rents the St. John’s Community Market building from the City of St. John’s.

  •  HST will be added to all invoice totals.
  •  Public WIFI is available at no cost.
  • Microphone and speakers available upon request. These are adequate for small events or as a PA system only.
  • Two ATMs are on-site. Fees from the ATMs support the further developments of the SJFM.
  •  We are a fully accessible space with 11 gender neutral washrooms.
  •  Electrical – for trade shows/booth type events, electrical access is a flat fee of $10 per booth.
  •  150 chairs are on-site. Additional chairs will need to be provided by renter.

Staff Support

  • All rental rates include one employee on-site during the event.
  •  Depending on the size and nature of your event, additional staff may be required. This will be discussed with you prior to
    signing the rental contract. Additional staffing rates are $15 per person per hour.

Types of Use

Large dinners, performances, rehearsals, art production, conferences, and more. Talk to our staff about your idea! Food-focused events get priority, as do events focused on community-building.

Food and Beverage Information

  • Café – If you would like the Market café to be opened during your event for coffee and snacks, please contact the café
    operator, 7th Wave Coffee Roasters at 7thwavecoffee@gmail.com.
  •  SJFM does not have a permanent liquor license. If you would like to host an event that includes alcohol, please read this important information.
  •  Vendors in the Hot Food Area (see map) are semi-permanent booths, and cannot be removed for events.
  •  The rest of the Market Hall is able to be emptied and arranged to meet your needs.
  •  Coffee/Tea is available for events. Please check with us about pricing.
  •  Renters may bring their own food for events. However, as a great alternative, some of our Market Vendors are able to
    cater. This includes everything from meeting snacks, to full meals and desserts. Check with us about available options.

  • What about alcohol?

    SJFM does not have a permanent liquor license. If you would like to host an event that includes alcohol, please contact us.

  • Do you have A/V equipment on site?

    Microphone and speakers available upon request. These are adequate for small events or as a PA system only.
